Principles

CHICAT is more than just a beautiful space. We see the life-changing work we do as part of a movement. Important to that movement are the following key principles:

Environment shapes behavior

Every human being is an asset and every life is valuable

Design thinking solves human problems and expands human possibility

Being engaged in the broader conversation matters

Creativity fuels enterprise

CHICAT’s unique offerings are rooted in the connection between art and technology. Art is a necessary bridge to education, to understanding. Throughout history, artists have relied on technology to push ideas forward. In fact, the word technology stems from the Greek word “techni” which means art. CHICAT’s programming, staffing, marketing and organizational principles stem from and build on the synergy between art, technology and community-building.

Out of an abundance of caution and in support of evolving public health measures related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Chicago Center for Arts and Technology (CHICAT) will temporarily close March 16 - 30, 2020. All youth and adult classes and programs are suspended during this time.

We intend to re-open on March 31, 2020. However, we will continue to monitor guidelines the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Chicago Department of Public Health, and the State of Illinois. We will evaluate our decision regularly and may further adjust our response as the situation develops.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while we do our part to keep the community safe and healthy.
